Announcements 10.21.09

Here you go parents & students, if you missed services this week here are our announcements for the week of 10.21.09. I will try and put this up every Thursday morning from here on out so we can all stay up to speed. Parents I know your students don’t always relay the messages of what is going on around here so now you can stay up to date by checking in each week. The videos may also make you smile a tad bit from time to time.

Enjoy.

This week I wanted to keep the music selection all in the family and give a little something for the students (song selection in opening video) and a use a song for the parents as well (song selection in closing video).

Here it goes….

Over the past three weeks we have been walking through at series here on Wednesday Nights entitled “Knocked Down”. The first week we took a look at the life of Simon Peter and how he was constantly Knocked Down throughout his life. Whether it was pride, fear, lack of faith or selfishness, it Knocked him Down, and many of these same things Knock us Down today. The only problem with it is that Jesus Christ knew Simon Peter was destined for great things, this is why He changes Simon’s name (meaning pebble) to Peter (meaning Rock) and lets him know that Christ will build His church on the rock. God didn’t create us and Christ doesn’t call us to stay down when we take a blow, when we get Knocked Down, through God’s Grace we can get back up.

The next week we talked a little about Love Knocking us Down. We took a look at the story of Samson and Delilah and how love can sometimes blindside us and Knock us Down, but that God has the power to help us recover after Love’s strong right hook. We traveled back in time to my middle school days and took a look at one of my most devastating Love Knock Downs…it was bad, and sad, but now I’m glad cuz God brought me a hot little number named Rachel Jane Harrison now Van Hook aka my wife aka my baby momma aka my one and only lady! Ok enough with the mushy stuff.

Then last week we took a long hard look at sin and how easy it is for us to find ourselves Knocked Down by all the sin surrounding us in our everyday world. We heard an awesome testimony from our Worship Leader Joe and then got the privilege to watch this drama put on by a couple of our students and leaders. They worked for weeks on the drama and all the hard work paid off. You guys did an amazing job on this drama and I look forward to many future products.

Enjoy the video.

Be Blessed.

Welcome to 4twelveministries.com

Good day to all, this is Chuck Van Hook speaking to you though the keyboard of Apple MacBook from somewhere in the hills of East Tennessee. I am the Student Pastor of the 4:Twelve Student Ministries here at the Gathering Church in Sevierville, TN. I love to write and I enjoy blogging. I tried tying in some of our student ministry events and announcements with my personal blog www.chuckbvanhook.com but it never really got going. So, I decided to go ahead and kick off a blog simply for our student ministry. Here you will be able to keep up with what is going on with the 4:Twelve Student Ministry with categories that focus on our Wednesday Night program called “The Net”, our weekend Small Group Bible Study called “Word Up!”, all of our media, videos or pictures and any activities, trips or events we have going on.

There is not much here yet but I am hoping to get you a little taste of some media by this afternoon. I look forward to sharing what God is doing in and through our ministries.

Be Blessed
